I teach an undergraduate course in entomology. My goal in teaching entomology to non-entomologists is to provide insight into a group of organisms that is largely ignored. The vast and varied world of insects impacts human society more than we think.
My IPM research work focuses on strategies to reduce pesticide use in fruit and nut crops. Past and current projects include pheromone mating disruption and biological control of pest insects with entomopathogens (nematodes and fungi), vertebrates (poultry) and parasitoids (local and imported). My crops of focus are hazelnuts and small fruit.
